Our newly refurbished, award-winning restaurant in Grantown-on-Spey, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, offers a warm and traditional atmosphere, combining a sense of space with an intimate dining experience. Located just 15 minutes from Aviemore, we are a popular choice for both hotel guests and visitors looking for a restaurant in the Scottish Highlands. We understand that the quality of both food and service is paramount, and we take great pride in delivering excellence in both.
Our Head Chef and his team are dedicated to creating a memorable dining experience. Menus are updated regularly to reflect fresh, local and regional produce, showcasing the rich flavours of the Scottish Highlands. Our commitment to quality extends to working with suppliers who share our values, including free-range, hand-reared, organic and GM-free practices wherever possible.
The Capercaillie Bar is a haven for whisky enthusiasts, featuring a selection of over 135 whiskies, including rare and premium expressions from distilleries across Scotland, many from the nearby Speyside whisky region. A whisky menu is available, and our knowledgeable bartender will be delighted to guide you through a tasting experience to suit your palate. In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, our wine list includes organically produced wines from environmentally and socially responsible producers. We also offer a carefully selected range of beers and cocktails.
Whether you are visiting Grantown-on-Spey or travelling from Aviemore or elsewhere in the Cairngorms, take the opportunity to broaden your whisky knowledge, discover new flavours, and learn more about Scotland’s national drink, fondly known as “the water of life”.
Whisky tastings are held every Saturday at 5:00 pm or 8:00 pm, or at other times by special arrangement. Advance booking is recommended.
Complimentary tea is served daily from 4:00 pm for hotel guests. Alternatively, if you prefer something stronger, our bartender will be happy to recommend a cocktail or the Malt of the Day.
